Movie Review #Titli

Finally was able to watch the much talked about Titli & i dont still realise one thing, why the f....k havent film makers realised, noticed & harnessed the full potential of a powerhouse performer called Ranvir Shorey. Titli may be about the Protagonist, played by the brilliant debutant, Shashank Arora but for me, it is an out & out Ranvir Shorey movie

The movie is set in the Dark Underbelly of the "Other Delhi". The Delhi which stays opposite ,adjacent or near by to the best & gliterring shopping mall, or 30 steps behind the swanky scy scrapers of Connaught Place or may be right behind the swanky 7 star hotels. Titli is about one such family of the "Other Delhi" . A family struggling to make ends meet, a family which is not poor, as in they cant afford to eat 2 square meals, but a family which can barely manage hand to mouth existence. The family is part of the Car stealing nexus that operates in Delhi, which consists of a well oiled network of Ganglords & Police. Ranvir Shorey, plays the eldest of the 3 tbrothers, who is struggling to carry the entire burden of the family on his shoulders, as a result ends us screwing his marriage, due to his frequent violent & aggressive behavior . A man who is burdened with family expectations. The Father played by Lalit, gels into the character of a useless, good for nothing father, who has so keenly being watching his sons tread the dirty path of crime & who is very comfortable in his skin as a shameless father, who doesnt want to stop anything from happening or even try & change the things

Titli - Potrayed brillianty by the Debutant Shashank Arora, has a dream of running away from the hell of this life. To temporarily, arrest the Familys issues & with the intent of having a woman as a partner in the business of Car stealing, The family get Titli married off to Neelu, a young woman , who has a complicated life of her own, with a steaming affair with a married Builder, however is forced by her parents to stay away from the married builder & instead force her to marry Titli

The Complex web of deceit, selfish motives, human relationships, frustrations of living a disgraceful life & the interplay of all these emotions forms the backdrop of this complex & dark movie

Some really fine performances by the star cast . Shashank Arora & Shivani , the debutant actors, who play Titi & Neelu, give a brilliant, restrained & underplayed performance for their highly complex characters. Lalit Behl, as the shamless father, is simply brilliant.Amit sial, is impressive as the middle brother Bawla, who is not married & manages to fend off his physical needs by having a gay relationship with a locality kid

Ranvir Shorey, is the pick of the actors, for his brilliant performance - To me, this is Shoreys best work till date

Dont watch, if you are prone to bouts of Depression
